FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cannabis Patients Alliance Day at the Capitol and Peace for Patients Dove Release

DENVER, CO – JANUARY 22, 2016
Once again, Cannabis Patients Alliance has invited medical marijuana patients and supporters to meet their Colorado legislators and staff. Patients, families and supporters from across the state will be coming to the Colorado Capitol for the Second Annual Cannabis Patients Alliance Day at the Capitol and Peace for Patients Dove Release on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

Second Annual Cannabis Patients Alliance Day at the Capitol
And Peace for Patients Dove Release
Tuesday, January 26, 2015
Colorado Capitol
10:30 a.m. Dove Release (West Steps)
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Chat and Lunch (Basement, Room 0111)

The event will begin with a Peace for Patients Dove Release at 10:30 on the west steps of the Capitol to honor and recognize medical marijuana patients in Colorado and across the country. The lead dove will be released by Dawn Wanser, a mother who moved her family to Colorado from Nebraska with the hope that cannabis would provide relief for their two sons from the devastating effects of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, a rare genetic disorder. Although Mrs. Wanser and Jacob attended Patients Day last year, Jacob will be joining us in spirit this year. The Wansers have now lost both sons to this devastating disease, but continue to be strong advocates for the medical benefits of cannabis and the rights of patients.

Patients will be facing many policy issues again this year. “With so much at stake this session,” said Cannabis Patients Alliance Founder and Executive Director, Teri Robnett, “we want to make sure our elected officials know that the policy decisions they make will affect the day-to-day lives of real patients, many of whom have come to Colorado seeking refuge and healing.”

Rather than being limited to 2 or 3 minutes at the microphone during a hearing, this is an opportunity to put a face to what it means to be a medical marijuana patient in Colorado and discuss issues they face every day. Patients will be available to tell their personal stories and share their experiences in a respectful and supportive environment.

Thanks to sponsors like Jane West (janewest.com) and Kayvan Khalatbari-Limaki (sexypizzaonline.com), a light lunch will be available at noon including pizza from Sexy Pizza, sandwiches from Cheeba Hut and cupcakes from Le Bakery Sensual (lebakerysensual.com).

*********

Cannabis Patients Alliance, founded by Teri Robnett (Rx MaryJane), is an alliance of patients, families, organizations, businesses, advocates and supporters from Colorado and across the country who work together to protect and advance the rights of patients who choose to use medical cannabis (marijuana) to treat whatever condition they may have. We support legal, safe, affordable access to medical marijuana in whatever way works best for the patient.

CPA’s core mission is two-fold: advocate for good public policy regarding the rights and needs of medical marijuana patients as well as cannabis consumers overall, and educate elected officials, policy-makers, law enforcement, medical professionals and the public about the medicinal benefits of marijuana and the day-to-day challenges faced by patients.
