22-Dove Release to Honor Veterans

dove-mtn.It is estimated that every day 22 veterans take their lives due to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Join Cannabis Patients Alliance at the Colorado State Capitol when we remember the 22 veterans we lose to suicide each day with a 22-Dove Release from the West Steps.

DATE: TBD
The date of the release is yet to be determined. It will be set after SB17-017 has completed it’s journey through the process and is officially a law.

DON’T WAIT! RESERVE A DOVE TODAY!

SB17-017, the bill to add PTSD to the list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana, has made it through the Senate and had its first hearing in the House on March 8, 2017. It will be debated on the House floor the week of March 13. We fully expect to be celebrating its successful passage!

We know that Post-Traumatic Stress isn’t just about combat veterans. It’s estimated that 7.8% of Americans, or 24.4 million people, suffer from PTSD. Women experience PTSD at rates more than double that of men (10.4% women, 5% men). While men are more likely to experience PTSD as a result of accidents, disasters and combat, PTSD in women is more likely a result of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.

How You Can Help

1. RESERVE A DOVE
You can reserve a dove for $100. We need a minimum of 22 doves reserved for this event. Get together with your friends and family members. Payment can be made in advance online through PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=ZQK2BJ6PFCZTE.

We know that $100 is asking a lot. You can also make a smaller, partial contribution toward a Dove for Veterans here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=DARWGBVYMEY38

2. COME TO THE EVENT (Date to be determined)
We will meet on the west steps of the Capitol for the dedication and dove release. We are trying to coordinate the date with the passage and signing of SB-17.

3. SHARE SHARE SHARE
Call your friends. Talk to your family, and share with your neighbors and community. Get them involved. It’s about community supporting patients, after all.

4. BECOME AN ALLY
Join us in the fight for patients’ rights by becoming an Ally! Please go online and become a member of Cannabis Patients Alliance. We need your support if we are to continue this important work.

Along with your donation, please indicate if your dove is dedicated to a particular individual or group and whether or not you’d like them to be recognized at the event.
